I love it when a plan comes together.... was able to keep a little bark on the bottom of this Sycamore bowl.  Turned it wet to about an inch thick, then let it dry and warp a bit.  After it dried and I finished turning, it still continued to warp.  It's always a treat to see how they end up.  Added a little orange mica powder to fill some cracks.
 
This Sycamore bowl is 8" diameter by 3 1/4" tall. 
Finished with three coats of spray lacquer.  Food safe.
 
Wooden bowls are intended to be art pieces.  The finish is food safe and there's not much you need to do for care.  If it's dusty, carefully dust it.  A can of compressed air works great!
 
If you intend to use it for food, some fruit is a nice touch.  Keep the bowl dry though, water is the enemy.
 
Hold the bowl with two hands from the bottom, never from the top edge.
